The GMC
The Goulbourn Male Chorus is a community-based chorus made up of men from the township of Goulbourn and surrounding southwest Ottawa communities. The chorus is under the direction of its founder, Robert Dueck, a resident of Stittsville. Robert has directed numerous community and church choirs and brings with him a wide variety of music experience. The Chorus is accompanied by pianist Bonnie MacDiarmid.
For more on Robert and Bonnie, see our Management Team.
Songs
The Chorus repertoire consists of traditional male chorus selections, both secular and sacred, spirituals, folk songs, ballads, and some lighter selections. During the festive season, it includes both traditional and modern arrangements of Christmas favourites.
For more on what we sing, see our Programming.
History
The Chorus had its first rehearsal on September 20th, 2010 with 12 men, and has since grown to over 30 active members. Since its inception the Chorus has taken part in a range of community events, including: Remembrance Day Services, community fundraising concerts, and performances of Christmas music for senior residents at Stittsville Villa. In addition to its performances at community events, the chorus stages public Christmas and Spring Concerts.
